Great success for the TISU Transfer to Industry and Start-Ups Workshop organized by TETRACOM in Prague on 19 January 2016 during the HiPEAC 2016 Conference, where speakers reported their experiences in technology transfer, and in particular some success stories of TETRACOM project. Moreover, the visitors enjoyed a poster session with all TTPs funded within the TETRACOM initiative.

The TETRACOM Newsletter provides some information on two major project milestones in late 2015. First, the TETRACOM workshop organized during the  HiPEAC Computing Systems Week in Milan. Second, the result of the 3rdand final call for Technology Transfer Projects (TTPs). 
Moreover, the Newsletter reports about the overall results of the project that coordinates 49 TTPs in total , and finally it announces the incoming event co-located HiPEAC Conference in Prague on January 19, 2016.

The thirdcall for Technology Transfer Projects (TTPs), for transferring university-based technology to a partner company having operations in Europe closed on September 31, 2015. The great response confirms the attractiveness in European for this form of technology transfer.

The TETRACOM workshop took place on September 23, 2015 in Milano, Italy. We registered 56 participants from 35 institutions in 14 countries for the workshop. Of the participants that filled out the survey, 73% rated the workshop of high quality.

The second call for Technology Transfer Projects (TTPs), for transferring university-based technology to a partner company having operations in Europe closed on December 31, 2014 with a significant increasing of proposals with respect to the previous call. The great response indicates that there is a broad European market for this very focused and effective form of technology transfer.

The 3rd Workshop on Transfer to Industry and Start-Ups (TISU) will be organized during the next HiPEAC Conference (HiPEAC2015 from 19 to 21 January in Amsterdam, the Netherlands).
The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers interested in bringing their technology to the market and to better understand what instruments are available to do so.  These instruments range from creating your own start-up, patenting and licensing scientific results to companies to consulting.

Finally,  it provides some facts about the first TTPs call.

The TETRACOM project will be presented at the upcoming Design, Automation & Test in Europe (DATE) Conference 2014, that will be held in Dresden (DE) the next 24-28 March.
In particular, the project coordinator will give a speach titled "The TETRACOM appoach to technology transfer" during  the special session "Technology Transfer towards Horizon 2020" on Tuesday, March 25.

The European Commission (EC) hopes to complement academics with business expertise through Technology Transfer in Computing Systems (TETRACOM), a coordination action funded by the EC under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The aim is to coordinate and support technology transfers from academia to industry by transferring knowledge and technologies developed by universities to the marketplace in the form of new products, processes, applications, or services.

In this Newsletter the project coordinator, Prof. Rainer Leupers, announces the forthcoming opening of the first call for TTP proposals along with other important information about the TETRACOM project.

The new press release about the TETRACOM project appeared on Alphagalileo (http://www.alphagalileo.org) and Cordis (https://cordis.europa.eu) web portals.
While there is a huge unused potential for technology transfer in computing systems in Europe, researchers often do not consider technology transfer into an existing company as a viable way to commercialize their research. TETRACOM wants to promote and support academia-industry technology transfer for computing in Europe by setting up 50 technology transfer projects.
